Our Story

Friendly Arctic started in 2008 when Andy Bird set up a small print shop in an East Nashville garage. It was built around a simple idea: make work that’s safe for our family, our community, and our planet.

Launched during a recession when most shops used cheaper plastisol ink, we chose a better path. We pioneered the use of premium water-based inks, finding a cleaner, safer solution for people and the planet. That commitment helped grow Friendly Arctic into one of the largest print shops in North America dedicated exclusively to water-based screen printing.

That same care has shaped our work in the community. When a tornado and a pandemic hit our neighborhood, we built a relief marketplace that helped raise over $100,000 for local businesses.

Seventeen years later (and counting), we’re still family-owned, still rooted in East Nashville, and still all-in on making meaningful merch that connects. We’re your friendly neighborhood print shop, a team of good people who show up when it counts and treat every project with the care it deserves.
