Now Hiring - Press Operator 

Job Description:
Friendly Arctic Printing & Design is a fast-paced screen printing and graphic design shop specializing in creating high quality products using water-based ink. We are looking for a detail-oriented, efficient, and self-motivated individual to join our production team.

The Press Operator is responsible for setting up and operating automatic multi-color screen printing presses while maintaining high standards for print quality, efficiency, and production output. This role involves preparing materials for each job, performing on-press quality control and adjustments, communicating effectively with production and sales teams regarding workflow or issues, and ensuring timely cleanup and maintenance of equipment and work areas.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  •  Setting up multi-color screen prints on automatic screen printing presses.
  •  Meeting daily production quotas and quality control expectations.
  •  Preparing for success for every job - staging shirts and screens, preparing inks as
    needed, double checking garment and art specifications, and consulting with production
    management as needed.
  •  Regularly communicate with the Production Manager, General Manager, and Sales dept.
    as appropriate regarding production details, delays, shortages, mistakes, etc.
  •  On-press quality control, making adjustments as needed to minimize spoilage.
  •  Timely teardown and cleanup of screens, inks, and tools after each job.
  •  Removing all ink from screens, squeegees, floodbars, and presses.
  • Maintaining an efficient workflow.
  •  Maintaining cleanliness and organization of printing press areas, including the presses,
    floors, carts, shelves, dryers, flashes, inks, etc.
  •  Other duties as assigned.

 

Ideal candidate would:

  •  Have experience operating an automatic screen printing press.
  •  Have experience printing with water-based inks.
  •  Display interest and appreciation for the art of screen printing.
  •  Be motivated, organized and proactive with strong attention to detail.
  •  Be a good communicator; willing to learn new skills ‘on the job’.
  •  Be a team-player; a good attitude is a must!
  •  Be someone who thrives in a fast-paced working environment.

Compensation: Starting at $16-$18/hr dependent upon experience, paid weekly.

Three performance reviews will be conducted in the first year (at 3mo, 6mo & 12mo) with opportunities for increased compensation at each review.

 

Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-time (40hrs/wk)

Hours are from 8:30am to 5pm Monday through Friday

Reclaim Technician

We are looking for a detail-oriented, efficient, and self-motivated individual to join our production team.

The primary role of the Reclaim Technician is to efficiently operate and maintain the Dane screen reclaim machine, ensure thorough cleaning and quality control of screens and shop supplies, and maintain an organized/clean reclaim area in order to support fast paced, high quality, and precise screen printing operations.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Reclaiming Screens.
  • Operating the Dane screen reclaim machine. Prepare, load and unload screens while keeping pace with the machine’s cleaning cycle.
  • Performing quality control of screens. Inspect cleaned screens, reprocess as needed, then deliver to the dark room/screen technician.
  • Monitoring reclaim chemical & supply inventories and communicating reorders as needed.

Maintenance & Upkeep:

  • Performing regular maintenance of Dane screen reclaim machine (filters, chemistry & cleanup) and maintaining service records.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the reclaim area, including the Dane
    washout machine, triple sink area, and wash out booth.
  • Re-doing squeegee rubber and pallet board tape when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Tear-Down:

  • Collecting all screens and squeegees from presses when jobs are completed.
  • Reclaiming ink from screens/squeegees into the appropriate ink buckets.
  • Removing all ink, tape, and residue from screens that have been used in production.
  • Hand washing squeegees, floodbars, spatulas, and other production supplies in the triple sink regularly throughout the day.

Ideal candidate would be:

  • Someone who thrives in a fast-paced working environment

Compensation: Starting at $17/hr, paid weekly. Three performance reviews will be conducted in the first year (at 3mo, 6mo & 12mo) with opportunities for increased compensation during each review.

Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-time (40hrs/wk)
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00AM - 5:30PM with opportunities for overtime pay on busier production weeks.
